The Rosebuds just can't sit still. The Raleigh, North Carolina's duet will embark on a three-month long tour of North America at the end of October in support of another full length album,
Life Like, set to be released October 7th. Their 4th full length album is a dark and organic proliferation of hauntingly upbeat guitar melodies reminiscent of Johnny Mar and The Smiths. The album itself is a stark contrast to 2007's super danceable
Night of the Furies. The drastic change in sound from album to album can perhaps be best used as indicator of the bands' work ethic-- they're always on the move, and always evolving.
Life Like's first, self-titled single is tinged with hypnotic, metronome driven guitar strums underneath the earthly vocals of
Ivan Howard and
Kelly Crisp, and the album itself features cameos from
Portastatic's Matthew McCaughan,
Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, and
Ashley Stove's Jim Brantley. Be sure to catch The Rosebuds in their current musical incarnation while you can-- they might have a different sound altogether the next time they come to your town. -
