Hello friends,

It's with humility that today I resign my post as managing editor of Baeblemusic. For three years I've been the captain of the editorial ship here, hoisting the sails, scrubbing the deck, and when necessary, blowing up the boat to build a new one. It's been a great time, and I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for reading. It's been a blast writing for you.

I started at Baeble as an intern in 2008, and after graduating from school, worked my way into this role. As you can imagine, I never dreamed that the bloggy freedom I was afforded by the skeleton staff back then would lead to a full time gig as a "music journalist," whatever that means in today's fractured media world. I love music, and I love writing, and I love creating content. Music is the passion, and writing was the medium that helped me break into creating something for people to enjoy. Our philosophy here at Baeble is that we are, first and foremost, music fans. We're just like you. We yearn to find that next song to squeeze our insides. The next song we'd like to share with our friends. And we've strived to provide that same enthusiasm, that same relentless consumption of new and interesting things, with you, our audience. That will never change, no matter how many different Joes sit in this chair.

This attitude is built into the DNA of Baeble, and it's one that will not be leaving with me. It's a part of Baeble, always. While developing our editorial focus, I made sure to make our mission inseparable from the voice of the site. My successor was contributing to Baeble at the most crucial time of my early employment. Together, we pioneered the voice of this site. Together, we grew an audience that nearly quadrupled our pageviews. There is no one else I'd trust with this project more. As for me, I'm moving on to some exciting new things. You can still follow me on Twitter, if you're so inclined. Some of the work I've done this week will be trickling out over the next few days as we transition, but this is the last day I'll be running the site in real time.

I've tried several times to map out the ineffable value of this job for me, but perhaps for the first time in three years, I can't find the right words. There is no greater joy than hearing a song you like, and no greater struggle than trying to explain that feeling to someone else. The space between those things has taught me so much. I hope you all keep looking for that next song.
