Grizzly Bears critically endeared sophomore album,
Yellow House, was an unbelievably fine documentation of twenty something, bedroom folk being lifted to stratospheric levels by professional, psychedelic production. Such coherent pieces of work are never just the coming together of a handful of songs, but rather the result of fine tuning, not to mention picking and choosing. In other words, there must be a few tough choices that were left off the album. Now, a year later, it seems Grizzly Bear will be releasing some of those unfortunate casualties, as well as a handful of alternate takes and remixes on November 6th. Entitled the
Friend EP (
Warp), the 10 song collection will feature collaborative work with such acts as
Beirut, The Dirty Projectors, CSS, and
Band of Horses. -
