There hasn't been a better time to be a fan of alternative hip-hop than it is right now since the 90s. And what's great about that is so many of these rap artists redefining what hip-hop can be are experiencing a groundswell of major mainstream success...so it's a lot like the 90s. Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown. They're all changing the game. And California's Vince Staples is one of those rappers who is changing the game. He stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to play Summertime 06 cut "Lemme Know" with Jhene Aiko and the Roots, and it's the best rap performance I've seen on Late Night since Kendrick Lamar's final Colbert appearance. Vince Staples potential is seeming pretty limitless right now.
