Sub Pop announced today that they've signed a new act, a buzzy, artsy hip-hop collective known as
Shabazz Palaces. The Seattle group self-released two EPs in 2009, gathering attention from critics and fans alike. Sub Pop took notice as well, and decided to put it in ink... they will release the groups debut album in early 2011.
Shabazz Palaces may be worlds apart from the scene Sub Pop usually occupies (avant rock, garage, grunge, etc) but they seem to fit right in regardless. We've got some materials to get you oriented to their style. Check out a five song sampler below.
