English singer-songwriter Tom Odell
has been slowly unraveling a string of music videos for songs off of his album Wrong Crowd
released earlier this summer and each video has been a real gem. If Odell ever gives up on music (but we're not saying he should
), music videos should be his next line of work. All of the visuals so far (for the title track
, and "Concrete"
) are aesthetically pleasing - soaked in ruby, emerald green, and dark yellow and orange. They all tell a story and build up into an intense build as Odell's soulful yearning grows more chilling. They're slightly dark and introspective, like we're looking directly into his f*cked up soul, but we still don't exactly know who he is...
Now he has released his latest video for "Here I Am" which features Kevin Spacey (cue the fangirling). There's no sign of Odell at all, instead we see Spacey running up a dark staircase (still keeping that mysterious, slightly creepy aesthetic) chasing a kid. It's pretty literal, given the main lyrics, "Running up the seventh floor / Knocking the eleventh door."
Then there's a dark plot twist at the end, but we'll leave that for you to find out on your own.
