So, apparently Soundgarden
is back. If you're younger than 20, you may not know who that is, in which case you should go listen to "Black Hole Sun"
They haven't released an album since 1996's Down On The Upside
so, really, don't feel bad if you're clueless right now, or have only heard of them via Rock Band
This is not surprising news. It's the year for 90s band comebacks: The Cranberries, The Offspring, Garbage, No Doubt, Eve 6, the Smashing Pumpkins -- all decided to follow the trend set by The Backstreet Boys. Soundgarden previously reunited to play Lollapalooza in 2010, but new recordings were only rumors and quips from front-man Chris Cornell. Now that Soundgarden has hopped on the return of the 90s recording bandwagon, does that mean N*Sync is coming back too? The world is still going to end this year, right? Doesnt JT want to make all of the still-preteen-at-heart girls happy once more before we all die?
Anyway, the King Animal
album will be out on 11/13, and the single "Been Away Too Long" -- typical -- will be released on 9/27. If you'd like a little taste of the new album, check out this short (and random, as this apparently isn't even the first single) clip of "Worse Dreams":
Also fitting, seeing as we've had worse reunions.
A sidenote: we were at Lollapalooza in 2010. Good times!
