Man, Saturday Night Live
is always sort of hit or miss, so we're pretty pumped that opening night of the season was a pretty big hit. Aside from the wonderfully weird performances of Frank Ocean, and his guest guitarist John Mayer, we got new cast members, new sketches, and the return of some old favorites. Impressions ahead!
The cold open featured Jay Pharoah taking over Barack Obama duties. He pretty much nails it. Although it's going to be tough competing for laffs with Jason Sudeikis's Mitt Romney.
Host Seth MacFarlane wasted no time in exploiting his meal ticket -- and you know you loved it. A conversation with Seth, Peter, Brian, Stewie, and of course, the Quagmire. Oh, and a musical number.
Bill Heder's Clint Eastwood made a fantastic return.
The Lids sketch was a strange way to disguise everyone's new favorite thing ever, Bobby Moynihan doing PSY. MORE GIFS OF THIS RIGHT NOW. Also be prepared for a super-special guest!
Weekend Update didn't disappoint, with appearances from Honey Boo Boo and Ryan Lochte (sort of). I give it six swims.
And Frank Ocean did some performing, with John Mayer at his side. Except when he was just playing video games? Things get weird.
"Thinking About You":
It's also weird to hear Seth MacFarlane say things like "Frank Ocean."
Next week: Joseph Gordon Levitt, with musical guest Mumford and Sons.
