Comedy Central might have better music taste than
MTV and
VH1 combined, and it's all thanks to one man:
Stephen Colbert.
Last night the
Flaming Lips appeared on the
Colbert Report and the result made for some pretty great TV. Colbert sat down with Flaming Lips front man
Wayne Coyne and discussed the Lip's new album,
Embryonic, asking "when does life begin on this album?", and Coyne seemed pretty tickled when Colbert started quoting the lyrics of "Do You Realize" calling the song "pretty depressing." Colbert's website
Colbert Nation will be streaming
Embryonic in its entirety until Monday night, and will continue the theme with the
The Mountain Goats in October. Yes, the
Mountain Goats, on October 6, will be musical guests on the Colbert Report!
John Darnielle will be promoting his new Biblically themed album
The Life of the World to Come which will also be available online. You can catch the full episode of last night's show plus the new
Flaming Lips' album
Embryonic on Colbert Nation. -
