Indie-rock's darling couple of
Jason Hammel and
Kori Gardner (
Mates of State) have been enlisted by scorching hot Santogold for selected tour dates starting September 28 at the House of Blues in Chicago, and concluding on October 14th at Los Angeles' legendary Wiltern Theater, with selected dates afterwards. Their fifth album
Re-Arrange Us (released back on May 20th) has been a favorite around here for the past couple of months. Jason's danceable drum kit works nicely to support Kori's melody driven keys, and it all gets gift wrapped under the couples' affectionate vocal duet. The result is a perfect antidote to the impending autumn gloom as it evokes a poppy sound reminiscent of summer afternoons and young love. Prior to the tour, Mates of State will also be making a special appearance on Nickelodean's
YO GABBA GABBA! on September 23rd. Be sure to get in on the live action love fest while you can. -
