The 6 Greatest Bob Dylan Impressions

On Tuesday, Bob Dylan released his 36th (holy crap!) full-length album, Tempest. So naturally, I've spent this week outside my apartment tossing placards on the ground and aggressively questioning strangers. Pretending to be Dylan voice is just a favorite pasttime, and I get the feeling that I'm not the only one who loves it. That iconic inflection is just begging to be imitated, you know? So to commemorate Tempest, I searched high and low for the best Dylan impressionists and ended up with a shortlist of six. 6. Richard Belzer
Yes, Munch from Law & Order used to be a stand-up comedian, and one of his most successful bits was "Bob Dylan Bar Mitzvah." The impression is so-so, but Belzer gets points for creativity and perspective. Also, he kinda sorta predicts Dylan playing into his eighties. Who else thinks he and Ice-T do this on the set all day? Just me? Okay. 5. Joan Baez
Joan Baez has balls for doing a Bob Dylan impression in a Bob Dylan documentary. That's why we love it. Not to mention that it's pretty damn good. Watch until about 1:25 to see what I mean. 4. Cate Blanchett
Is it a coincidence that in a movie of six actors playing "Bob Dylan," the one female got the closest, or that two women are in the top five on this list? Probably not -- Dylan-voice may be a little girly. Anyways, this Don't Look Back era impression earned Cate Blanchett an Oscar nomination, and for good reason -- it's pretty spot on. 3. Tim Heidecker
When Tim from Tim & Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job! heard about Dylan's 14-minute song about the Titanic, "Tempest," he set out to beat the legend at his own game -- by making a fifteen minute song about the Titanic. Let's just call it a tie. 2. John C. Reilly
How come no one ever asks Bob Dylan, "Why do you sound so much like Dewey Cox?" 1. Jimmy Fallon
Yep, the master of Neil Young voice also has the best Bob Dylan impression under his belt. If you close your eyes, it literally sounds like Bob Dylan is singing the theme song of Charles in Charge. Impressive.
