Starlight Girls, the Brooklyn band composed of two girls and two guys, hit us with their pleasingly odd sound when they released a self-titled five-song EP earlier this year. They somehow made baseball stadium-style organs blend with smooth gurgle bass lines, Jethro Tull flute, and the emotive vocals of Christina B. The band recently stopped by the studios of BreakThru Radio and played a session full of new songs, proving that their dive into oddhouse retro rock has just begun. Starlight Girls has collaborated with Xiu Xiu frontman Jamie Stewart for an 7" to be released in November, and their first full-length album is set for 2013. So color us excited.
Watch the session below, which features the song "Inhibitionist" and snippets of a few other new tracks. Also, shout out to drummer Karys Rhea for rocking that vintage Montreal Canadiens tank!
