Sub Pop and the end of summer and just go ahead and tell you that mellowed out rockers
Grizzly Bear Jr. Beach House officially signed with Sub Pop according to the labels blog, and no one is getting a vacation (that we know of). But there is a new album!
Alex Scally and
Victoria Legrand (the duo comprising Beach House) are Baltimore based, but the Seattle label has declared the pairing "bi-coastal love" (sounds PG-13). Over the summer the pair took a vacation from touring to record (i.e. not a real vacation) with Chris Coady at Dreamland Studios in Woodstock, in upstate New York. The result, we're told by the labels blog, is "their greatest work to date." Well that might sell some records.
The hype is supported by enthused reviews of their previous work, so we'll be keeping our eyes on Beach House. The album supposedly will emerge in early 2010. For now, you can see them live on the dates below. -
