David Baxter of Avalanche City is no stranger to the indie-music scene. This multi-instrumentalist, and all around nice guy, has ventured through his share of hardcore rock bands. But after paying his dues, Dave wanted a musical venture he could truly call his own. And so, the indie-folk delight Avalanche City was born.
One thing Dave certainly did not lack on this album was creative control. With his quest for autonomy came the nagging feeling that he ought to learn how to sing. After conquering his voice-box in the New Zealand countryside, he proceeded to record every musical track of the album. The album catapulted onto the New Zealand music scene, and brought Dave on the classic indie-musician migration to America.
Dave took a quick break from his all-American tour and stopped by the New York City Baeble Headquarters to chat about the Avalanche City project, his past as a hardcore musician, and his eternal love of penguins. Check out a clip of the interview below.
