Maggie Bjorklund, the pedal steel guitarist for Jack White's
band The Peacocks, is bringing her own name into the spotlight. The singer/songwriter is releasing her second solo album, Shaken
, this fall, with the help of a few other acclaimed musicians. The album features Bjorklund alongside English artists Jim Barr, on bass, and John Parish, on guitar, as well as Barb Hunter on cello and Kurt Wagner, of alternative country band Lambchop, on vocals.
was written while Bjorklund was caring for her mother before she passed away, the tracks are sure to exude a sense of heartfelt emotion and compelling meaning. This can be heard through the track "Missing at Sea," which Bjorklund released via Soundcloud a few months back. The instrumental track features Bjorklund's transcendent melodic work on her pedal steel, as backing cello and bass lines help to emit a beautifully wistful, yet alluringly gloomy, sound.
