"Triumphant (Get 'Em)" as a whole seems more like a distant echo of the singer's glory -- Mariah takes a backseat to verses from Meek Mill and Rick Ross, reduced to a featured player instead of the main attraction. The melody is pretty powerful and the song is genuine, but Mariah battles drum twitches and 808s for a large majority of the song's choruses, before finally limping through her own verse. It feels a bit reserved and quiet for the octave-busting diva. How is this even a Mimi song with Ross and Mill front and center?
Like, the first verse sounds like a G.O.O.D. Music single. Huh? Not always a bad thing, but Ye's sample-mining isn't the same vibe as having a legend like Mariah Carey at the helm.
Maybe it's the beer o'clock talking, but this sounds like tofu-level pandering to the popular styles, instead of one of the true R&B bangers Carey is capable of. I'm hesitant to send you into the weekend with this, so take one more Mariah before you go.
