Lou Barlow, an integral member of the classic indie rock scene and member of bands like
Sebadoh and
Dinosaur Jr. has not, in fact, disappeared behind his slew of band reunions forever. Now four years since his last solo record, numerous Sebadoh record re-releases and a Dinosaur Jr. reunion, Lou Barlow is returning this fall with
Goodnight Unknown; a new record that celebrates the noise and energy of past bands as well as the thoughtful influence of his last acoustic record. The result is a collection of pop songs that dance with an urgency and energy. Fans of the classics will find echoes of his prior work, and won't be disappointed in the mold of his new influences and the effect of time.
Goodnight Unknown is set to be released this October 6th on the mighty
Merge label, and in the fall, Barlow will embark on a tour opening for Dinosaur Jr. for a guaranteed blend of epic indie rock and stylized melodic pop. Not to mention, total hipster credibility for the rest of your life. Lou Barlow is a classic and a legend for a reason, and these perfect, drifting colored pop songs are it. -
