Matt Corby has delved into his true alternative folk nature with the release of
Made of Stone. Corby really gives a true representation of his vocal capabilities with the use of his vocal range and overall ability; from the soulful, grovelly vocals to his beautiful falsetto.
He was first discovered as the runner up on reality television show
Australian Idol. Thankfully, Corby did not tie himself to the pop style so popular of musicians discovered on
AI and, instead, moved into his genuine folk flair. After a short period of time with unsuccessful folk releases down-under, Corby moved to the edges of the European continent. He was then signed by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons) to Lovett's 'Communion' collective. Now, with his new EP, Corby has established a more alternative/assertive tone within the folk spectrum. Emotional, heartfelt, surprising voice -- you get the picture, but it's better heard than spoken.
