You know that mate you don't see nearly enough, but when you do, wonder why the hell the two of you can't make it happen more often? That's Polica
. The band's debut, Give You The Ghost
, woefully doesn't see a lot of play on my pod. When it does though, all that shameless synth cheese, double drummer devastation, and delightfully elastic vocals feels like a serious crack to the noggin. Duh, dude. These guys rule, obviously.
Today Polica are giving folks like me the chance for redemption, unveiling a new single from their forthcoming album, Shulamith
, due 10/22 on Mom+Pop. "Chain My Name" finds the Minneapolis troupe in finest form, delivering the kind of fizzy, percolating sugar rush that's got me feeling more than a little guilty about my previous, selective interest. Thankfully, there's a bit more time to brush up on the old stuff and get excited about the new stuff. Be a better friend than I've been and give this warm weather anthem a whirl or three before the thermometer starts to dive.
