Brooklyn punk quartet Parquet Courts has returned with their nonchalant and comical style on this new single "You've Got Me Wonderin' Now." For such a short song it's packed with a lot of goodness. These guys are capable of wearing their pop roots on their sleeve without sacrificing their hard, fast punk sound. Even while balancing the fine line between these genres, they manage to use some thoughtful wordplay and distinct imagery in their lyrics. The end of the first verse - "Toothache's better than heartache baby, I've figured that much out / And I thought I knew a thing or two about the blues but you've got me wonderin' now" - is surprisingly reminiscent of Bob Dylan's backwoods humor. It's a lot more than you get from your average punk song.

The track is featured on their recently announced EP follow-up to Light Up Gold, entitled Tally All the Things That You Broke, due out on October 8th.
