Sam Martin and Simon Katz, formerly of Iglu & Hartly, joined forces once their previous project went on hiatus to form Youngblood Hawke. The two also added friends and family Tasso Smith, Alice Katz and Nik Hughes to the mix. The first effort of the LA-based band is one of the most optimistic sounding EPs so far this year. The up-beat opener "We Come Running" has Justice-esque group vocals and is the perfect summer anthem. "Dannyboy" gets stuck in your head (probably for days) with the catchy chant of "wake up, Dannyboy / there's a world outside your window". Each song sounds like something you could sing around a bonfire or blast while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway. The EP is full of California sunshine and positivity.
