Ruby the RabbitFoot is The Next (Slightly Crazier) Taylor Swift

It seems like Ruby the RabbitFoot popped out of nowhere, but we're not angry about it. To be honest, her name made me hesitant to check out the music, but you know what they say: Don't judge a book by its cover. When I first heard her track, "Nicola La," the production and tongue in cheek lyrics were a standout and the video pushed me over the edge. The pastel aesthetic and floral outfits reeked of the visual queen, Petite Meller. "I'mma let you hurt my feelings," would usually come off as a vulnerable line, but she radiates so much confidence, it feels like she's completely in control of her emotions.

She recently released other songs "Faucet," "Blue Jean Jacket," and "Wild Cherry Lipstick," which will all be on her upcoming album, Divorce Party, stunningly produced by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, Azure Ray), out this Friday. In "Blue Jean Jacket," she sings, "When you said you love me like a sister / I didn't know you make love to your sisters." It's a really dark, disturbing line, paired with sweet, calming vocals and bubbling synth-pop -- which catches the listeners off guard. We're getting some massive Melanie Martinez vibes. The record consists of deeply honest songs about loving her lover's brother and stealing wild cherry lipstick at Walgreens, and some sax solos, 'cause why not? They're all perfect pop songs that, when you think about it, could easily be written by Taylor Swift... So, is Ruby the next slightly crazier Swift?
