Scissor Sisters are often cited as the last vestiges of a traditional party band -- that is, a band that can elicit mob riots of dancing and debauchery without the aid of today's nefariously ubiquitous DJ-based trends. Their recent collection Magic Hour provided some of the night's best numbers -- the exuberant "Shady Love," "Baby Come Home," and "Only The Horses." Ana Matronic and Jake Shears romped around as if their lives depended on it. A kiki was had by all.

The band's back-catalogue also provided a few guaranteed hits -- including the band's truest and most popular anthem, "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" from the band's near-perfect Ta-Dah. The infuriating sound at Terminal 5 seemed like an afterthought in the wake of their awesomeness.

The real joy of the show was in the experience -- the band's uncapped enthusiasm, coupled with their lovable personalities, blending perfectly with the venue's colorful crowd. Putting on a dance show in the age of the DJ booth is something to keep close to the chest, and Scissor Sister still know how to party without any sort of technological handicap (the giant illuminated scissor-leg logo didn't hurt, though).
