TRIPLE THREATS: Musicians Who Timberlaked Hollywood

Woody Allen has announced the full cast for his next movie - which takes place in 1950's New York - and the actor who received the starring role was a pleasant surprise: Justin Timberlake. This is a pretty big deal for Timberlake's acting career as he will be acting alongside Kate Winslet, Jim Belushi, and Juno Temple in Allen's 48th film.

Yes, he's a successful pop singer and former boy band heartthrob but Justin Timberlake is arguably better at acting. After Timberlake accidentally exposed Janet Jackson at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, he decided it was a good time to take a break from music to take a shot in the film industry. Black Snake Moan and Alpha Dog are a couple of his big roles and since then, he's been in Social Network, Bad Teacher and Friends with Benefits. Best wardrobe malfunction ever. Sorry, Janet.

In honor of Timberlake's new role, we've put together a list of musicians who have had just as much, if not more success in Hollywood.

Jared Leto
Jared Leto

Leto began both his acting and music career in the '90s, but he was recognized more often as the singer of 30 Seconds to Mars. Leto didn't want to use his acting to promote the band so he kept his roles in Requiem for a Dream and Fight Club separate from his band. In two decades, he was in over 20 films. In 2014, he won an Oscar for "Supporting Role" in Dallas Buyers Club, where he played the role of a trans women and gave one hell of an acceptance speech.

Mark Wahlberg
Mark Wahlberg

Its easy for some to forget that Mark Wahlberg started out as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. But "Good Vibrations" is permanently on my "Throwback Thursday" playlist and that music video led him to be a Calvin Klein underwear model. Thankfully, Mark Wahlberg found his niche in acting shortly after his brief music career. His notable movies include Boogie Nights, Three Kings, Italian Job, Departed, and Four Brothers. He was also the executive producer for HBO's Entourage, which is loosely based on his experiences in Hollywood.

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez

She may be Jenny From The Block but she actually made her acting debut at the age of 16 in My Little Girl. She's had major success in both singing and acting, being the first women to release a number one album (her second studio album for J.Lo) and a film (The Wedding Planner) in the same week. Her breakout role was in Selena - which is still her best performance yet. Other movies she has starred in are Gigli, Maid in Manhattan, Enough, Monster-in-Law, Jersey Girl, Shall We Dance?, and The Wedding Planner. Sure, J-Lo isn't the world's greatest actress, but she sure knows how to liven up to some pretty cheesy films.

Queen Latifah
queen latifah

Queen Latifah is a rapper, beatboxer, singer, activist, AND actress. She gained mainstream success in Hollywood by starring in Chicago and was nominated for an Academy Award for "Best Supporting Actress" but lost to her co-star, Catherine Zeta Jones. She was also in Bringing Down the House, What Happens in Vegas, The Perfect Holiday, Hairspray and Last Holiday (with LL Cool J, another hip-hop rapper turned Hollywood actor).

Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is on this list because he can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants (like trying out his reggae stage name, Snoop Lion). On top of his music career, he's appeared in cartoons, video games, TV shows and has quite the impressive list of films. Some Snoop film favorites are Baby Boy, Soul Plane, Starsky & Hutch, Training Day, Bones, Old School, and Half Baked.

Will Smith
Will Smith

We will always remember Will Smith's party hits circa 1997 "Gettin Jiggy Wit It", and "Welcome to Miami" and long-live his rapper alias, Fresh Prince, but Will Smith takes the cake for our favorite actor who had a brief run with music. From I, Robot, Men in Black, Seven Pounds, Pursuit of Happyness, Hitch and plenty more. Every movie Will Smith touches turns to pure gold.
