Andrew Bird And Matt Berninger Unite For 'Lyke-Wake Dirge'

If you thought that the deep-rooted bellow of The National's Matt Berninger's voice couldn't get any more mournfully dramatic, just wait until you hear what his voice sounds like when it's accompanied by the infectiously charming melodies of the classically trained violinist, Andrew Bird.

The two have joined together to record a rendition of the traditional English ballad, "Lyke-Wake Dirge", for an episode of AMC's new drama, Turn. The song, which focuses on the slow soul-march from life into purgatory, is as hauntingly disturbing as anything Berninger touches. However, when accompanied by the hushed creep of an Andrew Bird melody, you get a progressively-eerie track perfectly suited for an episode filled with death and sadness.
