On Just Tell Me That You Want Me, some of today's most celebrated indie acts cover one of music's greatest bands in Fleetwood Mac. Often compared to Stevie Nicks herself, Swedish songstress Lykke Li graces the track list with a tremendous cover of the Rumors b-side, "Silver Springs." Given the original compositions simple, heartfelt nature, it'd be easy to over compose the cover, dressing it up in Lykke's patented sound of heavy drums and synthesizers. Credit goes to her efforts to keep things simple, engaging instead in the song's heartbreaking lyrics and melancholy melodies. This is a cover that completely relies on Lykke's ability to mimic Nick's original vocal conviction, giving the cover a similar strength as its' original. Lykke's grasp of the emotional weight of the track is so clear...so clear, in fact, we can imagine Stevie Nicks herself being proud of it. All of this is a good thingthe album is, after all, supposed to be a tribute.
