Beirut has orchestrated its own version of "O Leozinho" for
Red Hot + Rio2, the modern tribute album to the late 60s Brazilian Tropiclia movement, intended to raise money for AIDS charities. The result is charity for your ears in the form of a free download at the
album website. In addition, a 7 minute video featuring interview footage and a Brooklyn loft performance of the cover is now floating around the internet. Zach Condon's Portuguese sounds pretty convincing, especially to the uninformed listener. Bilingual abilities aside, Condon and the band play "O Leozinho" as though it had been theirs all along.
As always, be sure to check out
our own footage of Zach and the gang at Music Hall Of Williamsburg.
