Tonight will be historic. This isn't only because I'm leaving the office early to go to a party. It's the party itself that carries heavy historic significance. Today at 4PM, I'm packing up early and heading over to Hoboken to celebrate the final hours of Maxwell's. I've already vented about the city's cultural implosion that forced this all to happen, so instead let's watch this great 20-minute documentary, A Darkened Stage: The Last Days of Maxwell's. The mini doc features interviews with artists like Patrick Stickles of Titus Andronicus and Marissa Paternoster of Screaming Females, who describe the profound role that this small venue played in their own musical upbringings.
Details about tonight's block party are minimal, but we're sure there will be some influential faces helping us drink the taps dry.
I'm arming myself with a camera, so check back tomorrow for a photo post, and keep an eye on our Instagram (@Baeblemusic) throughout the evening.
