Boasting a (somewhat) modest six members, budging Bostons Hallelujah The Hills into the dime a dozen, kitchen collective scene may not seem quite appropriate. But the bands windswept and lofty clamor will garner befitting comparisons to the Arcade Fires and Broken Social Scenes of the world
which is a good thing. I like a bit of excess in my musical faire, and Hallelujah the Hills do just that on their recently released debut Collective Psychosis Begone ( Misra). Rounding out traditional drums, guitar, and bass, Hallelujah dip their songs in drabs of cello, violin, trumpet, and melodica. Top The Hills off with Ryan Walshs megaphone vocals, and the musical surplus is matched with equal parts emotion and intensity. Plus, the band has penned themselves a proper fight song, posted below. - David Pitz
