Alright, alright, I know that all music is based on earlier pieces of music because there are only so many notes and chords in this world. Somehow though artists continually find ways to differentiate themselves, so it's rare to find a song with parts that are exactly the same as another song. And once you do notice those similarities, it's impossible to listen to one without hearing the other. I can't ignore them anymore, so I'm going to make sure you can't either: here are four recent songs with parts that identically resemble earlier songs.

1. The intro of Tennis' "High Road" vs. The intro of Kings of Leon's "Taper Jean Girl"





A mere half-step separates these two intros.

2. The breakdown of Kindness' "Anyone Can Fall In Love" vs. Billy Joel's "The Longest Time"





Click ahead to 2:02 to hear Kindess' breakdown. The similarity is quick but obvious. This Kindness track is actually an Anita Dobson cover, so if anyone's to blame it's her. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the cheesy-goodness of "The Longest Time" music video?

3. The intro of Ra Ra Riot's "Do You Remember" vs. The intro of Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's "Don't Come Around Here No More"





The songs end up sounding much different, but for that first ten seconds or so the songs are indiscernible. "Do You Remember" even has that trippy rolling guitar lick!

4. The pre-chorus of Rihanna's "We Found Love" vs. The chorus of Enrique Iglesias' "Escape"





First instances: 1:17 for "We Found Love," 0:49 for "Escape." Exact same melodies. So many times my Rihanna singalongs (yes, I have those) have seamlessly devolved into Enrique singalongs.
