RZA is directing a project as mind melting as the legendary Wu Tang Clan. The Man with the Iron Fists has all the elaborate movement and stylized violence essential to a Quentin Tarantino aesthetic (makes sense, since Tarantino produced it). The trailer alone is jam packed with ruby-red throat slashing and body-part-flying insanity. Lucy Liu, clothed in a gold gown and in an obvious position of power, says matter-of-factly, "Power belongs to no one until seized with sex and violence." Laden with mind blowing (uh, literally) action sequences and an indulgent cast of young women (I assume they're assassins), Lui's line seems like it will come to life. Almost everyone looks weapon clad, whether it be the spikes on a fan or "an iron fist." RZA, who directed and co-wrote the film with Eli Roth, also plays a black smith who channels a mystical power. Not much of a plot is shown in the trailer but there is enough action and aesthetic to make people forget about a story-line.

We saw that Tarantino both enjoyed and satirized pop culture in Pulp Fiction, so this Kung Fu film played to the tune of new original material from the likes of Kanye West, RZA, The Wu-Tang Clan, Wiz Khalifa, and The Black Keys just seems natural. Many would give anything with Tarantino's name a fighting (heh heh) chance (for good reason, obviously). I don't suggest watching to anyone with a sensitive stomach or a love of true Kung Fu (traditionally unarmed, sometimes meditative combat). But to all of you who enjoy surrealistic slashing and one-liners, go for it.
