NYC-based rock band, The Kin
, are out with their brand new single, "Weekend." The track is for Amazon's Songs of Summer Playlist
, which is a collection of original recordings that are available exclusively for streaming on Prime Music and for purchase on Amazon Music. It features new material/covers of summery songs from more than 30 artists, including Passenger, Blitzen Trapper, The Mountain Goats, Laura Gibson, Globelamp, The Kin, and more. Oh my god, does that not sound like total summer heaven?
"We wrote this song for the love of the weekend, whether you are a young kid, or an old fart, everyone craves the weekend," The Kin's Thorald Koren tells us, and that's true. This song is perfect for the weekend, as Isaac and Thorald Koren pair up to sing gorgeous, soaring harmonies about being young, running nude with the girls in the yard and dancing under stars if it rains. In the video, we see the drummer, Shakerleg, using his foot, a clip board, and what looks like a pair of keys to keep the steady beat. I don't know much about percussive instruments, but I'm pretty sure that's the most badass makeshift drum kit ever. And he makes it look totally effortless.
This song is perfect for any activity -- getting ready in the morning, BBQing, driving in your car with the windows down, etc... Whatever you're doing, let The Kin deliver your new favorite summer anthem.
