Iron And Wine
, with beard and studio equipment only, recorded 5 tracks for an episode of "4AD Sessions." The 16-minute episode features three songs off of Kiss Each Other Clean
, as well as a few older tracks, and it is available for your viewing pleasure.
Sam Beam was hand-crafted by a higher power of music for solo in-studio performances. In spite of the fuller band sound of Iron and Wine's newer stuff, the master of folk had no trouble capturing the essence of his lullaby-like tracks in "Tree By the River," and "Half-Moon". This hardly comes as a surprise since Iron and Wine's magic has hinged for so long on the less-is-more motif. Remove the added vocals and instruments from the tracks on Kiss Each Other Clean
, and it becomes impossible to tell it apart from his older songs.
