Michigan quartet Stepdad have a combination of sounds that pulls from all sorts of genres, while staying completely original. It kind of sounds like someone put an 808 drum machine, Dan Deacon, F-cked Up and a Planet Earth DVD into a blender and poured out a delicious glitter-bomb smoothie.

Stepdad began in 2009 as a project by pals ultramark (vocals) and Ryan McCarthy (keyboards) who were living in Chicago at the time. When they decided to get serious about being Stepfathers, they moved back to their home state of Michigan, to Grand Rapids "because it's not Detroit." It was there that they released their debut EP Ordinaire and picked up rhythm section Alex Fives
and Jeremy Malvin. The addictive experimental pop of Stepdad immediately caught the attention of producer Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, The Walkmen), who helped the quartet record their first LP.

Stepdad will debut that first full-length, Wildlife Pop, on June 12 via Black Bell Records, the new label by Passion Pit member Ayad Al Adhamy.
