For 20-year-old singer/songwriter Cady Groves
, music is something that just comes naturally. And her dreams are quickly being realized. She just signed a deal with RCA, released her debut album The Life of A Pirate
, and is currently on the Bamboozle Roadshow. Luckily she had time from her busy life to answer some of my questions.
Who are your biggest influences?
My very biggest influence throughout my whole life has been Alanis Morrisette. Ever since I was 4, her Jagged Little Pill album has been the most genius piece of work I've ever listened to.
How have you grown as a band and as individuals since being together?
Now that I have a band forming, it's a good feeling because they are all my friends. I actually live with my drummer, Dustin and his wife, my merch girl Barbie. We are all best friends so it's awesome!
What was your writing process with The Life of a Pirate? How do you think this process shows through the music?
Honestly, I wrote this album in like 2 days. I had a bunch on my mind and had to get it out. I had no idea if it was good or what it sounded like to other people, it just sort of happened.
What was your favorite show that you've played and why?
Every show on the Bamboozle Roadshow this summer has been soooooo amazing. I have learned so much and made so many new friends.
If you could tour with any band past or present who would it be and why?
I would have to say Alanis Morissette again!
