For her new video, Lana Del Rey stars along side A$AP Rocky as Jackie O. and John F. Kennedy, respectively. The trailer for Del Rey's song "National Anthem" (released yesterday as a teaser, although the video is out already) was mostly shots of Rocky smoking a cigar and Del Ray standing at a microphone. For a trailer it's kind of odd and un-reveling. It loosely fits with the 50s and early 60s imagery Del Rey is stylistically known for. Americana is one theme she returns to in her work and definitely shows in this recent release.

Despite all the historic references, Rocky described the video as "some cool trippy shit, some real 2015 shit." I understand the trippy part, but 2015 seems like a hardly futuristic, kind of arbitrary year. I guess we'll just have to wait three years to figure it out.
