Everyone's favorite punky, all-girl trio are apparently making plans to make another run at slop rock glory this Fall. That's right.
Vivian Girls have just about finished work on their sophomore album,
Everything Goes Wrong. Not real sure what that title's about. After all, the band's history suggests nothing but smooth sailing to this point. Barely together two years,
Cassie Ramone,
Kickball Katy, and
Ali Koehler have already released a handful of seven-inch singles, as well as last year's self-titled debut.
Now comes word of a new 13 song set in which the band should continue to show off their ability to master a variety of noisy genre.Says
Koehler, " I think it's moodier. I think we have basically the same influences as on our first album, but with more influences added."
If "Walking Alone at Night" -
recently performed on P4K's ADD (though this is via IFC) - is any indication, listeners should expect plenty of 60s garage rock clanging up against the sound of 70's punk. Also worth noting is the tunes' ability to pair a runaway beat with beautiful, yet simple vocals.
The Vivian Girls tour this summer throughout Europe, but also make a few Stateside appearances in New York, Chicago and Seattle. Check the dates below.
