Dark Night of the Soul, collaborative project of
Dangermouse and the late
Sparklehorse, will be released in the U.S. on July 13th, in the U.K. July 12th. The project was already seen as a limited-edition artist's book with CD enclosed and as a gallery installation, but until now the music wasn't officially made available.
Shelved by EMI for a while last year, the album features an insane list of guest artists including
The Flaming Lips,
Iggy Pop, and
Julian Casablancas. David Lynch, revered writer/director of
Twin Peaks and
Blue Velvet, among others, contributed a series of original photos to
Dark Night of the Soul, which will be used in the album art. Check out the track "Grim Augury" below, as well as the project's official website, which is pretty (nightmarishly) sweet.-
