Back in the day, well before the modern age of iTunes and social media, we all found our own ways to learn about new music. Without a local, non-commercial record store in my hometown, my source of discovery was from an entirely different media form: Skate videos. This is where I first uncovered the eerie allure of Kazu Makino's Blonde Redhead. The New York-based trio, who earlier today announced their ninth full-length album, Barragan, first entered my earwaves 13 years ago when their classic tune "In Particular" appeared on my first DVD ON Video Skateboarding Spring 2001.
All nostalgia aside, the group's follow-up to 2010's Penny Sparkle is scheduled to be released September 2nd via Kobalt. Today they slipped through the cracks the Barragan's first single "No More Honey", a sweet, yet sinister cascading tune. Listen below.
