Over the weekend, The Humane Society held their rescue Gala at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. In attendance, were activists and supporters like Zendaya, Diane Warren and Kesha, who performed a stunning and emotionally charged cover of Lady Gaga's, "Til It Happens To You."
Gaga performed the song at the 2016 Academy Award's, where she was accompanied on stage by survivors of sexual violence and abuse. in the enduring performance, 34 million viewers were introduced to definable faces and identities rather than impassive statistics, and its impact was undeniable.
Throughout Kesha's legal battle with her abuser, record producer Dr. Luke, Kesha and Lady Gaga have offered one another their unconditional support. Kesha's Gala performance paid homage to Gaga, but also and more significantly, Kesha has opened up a dialogue about a highly pervasive crisis within and beyond the music industry.
The pop artist prefaced her performance by stating, "I want to dedicate this song to every man, woman, child and animal that has ever been abused."
