If you like Swedish indie folk played by someone descended from Argentina, you have very specific taste. Seriously, this is really for all fans of the folk genre: you should check out
José González and his new tour dates.
The dates start June 13th and include highlights such as
Bonnaroo, the
Ottawa Blues Festival and
Austin
city Limits. The
New York Times was pretty fond of his show at
Highline two months ago, so he just might be worth checking out. The music is kind of a serene drone with strong percussive elements. It's seemingly South American influenced. It sounds like a
Simon and Garfunkel meets
The Shins playing flamenco guitar and hand percussion. It's just plain chill. González released his sophmore album,
In Our Nature (
Mute) last year, and released remixes of certain tracks on Earth Day, entitled
In Our Nature Remixes EP. The most recent single, "Teardrop" was just released with a bonus b-side ("Teardrop originally performed/recorded by
Massive Attack). Check him out. -
