Why does every artist have to drop their album on the same day? For us listeners, it's a challenge to catch up with every new release, especially when it's several different releases from all really exciting artists. So to cut through the noise and make sure you have all of your ducks in a row, we're briefly rounding up the most important albums to listen to this week.
1. Lil Yachty - Teenage Emotions
Get ready for some of the finest features: Migos, YG, Kamaiyah, Diplo, Sonyae Elise, plus more. This is Lil Yachty's debut album and the followup to his two mixtapes Lil Boat
and Summer Songs 2.
2. Bryson Tiller - True to Self
We didn't really know this one was coming -- Tiller surpise-dropped True to Self
one month early. We ain't mad though, because *premature opinion*: it sounds real nice
so far. We think he might keep the momentum up after the 2015 release of T R A P S O U L.
3. Swet Shop Boys - Sufi La
Damn, this one seems like it came just in time for the raging Memorial Day parties we're about to attend. If this isn't a pump up record, I don't know what is. The group experiments with super bassy, unique beats, especially on the dark title track and "Thas My Girl." This is the follow-up to their 2016 debut album Cashmere
and they released a physical edition of the record on Record Store Day in April.
4. Gucci Mane - Droptopwop
After being released from prison in May 2016, Gucci Mane released six different projects, and now he's out with his first project of 2017. It features collaborations with Offset, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, and Young Dolph.
