Its hard to believe that the beastly boys in Baltimore/Brooklyns renowned
Animal Collective are now seven strong albums into what is shaping up to be one heck of an appealing career. But come September, this will certainly be the case when the band unveils
Strawberry Jam (
Domino Recording Company). Penned over the course of the last two years in various global layovers, the album first came to realization in Sept. 2005 while the band was preparing to tour Europe in support of
Feels. Described in big generic terms like emotional and raw,
Strawberry Jam was set to tape under the guidance of
Scott Colburn in the middle of the Arizona dessert. Confessing the sound might have been influenced by Tecate drinking, barbecues, Javelina sightings and other desert oddities Strawberry Jam sounds like another fine record from the collective. Too bad we still have to wait four months to hear it!
