God d***...those guitars. I've never been one of those people to outright complain about the diminishing role of guitars in modern rock music. Musical trends are a cycle of re-invention and outright transformation, and even on those years when guitars may seem out of style, there are still bands out there doing amazing things with their axes. And Seattle blues rock act My Goodness
are doing kick-ass things with their guitars.
We're premiering the band's latest video, "Pay No Mind," and the salvo of the track's opening guitar riffs are like a room's worth of Marshall Stack amps exploding in your chest cavity. The explosive but simultaneously tightly wound guitar work twists and turns around a melody without ever sacrificing intensity and momentum, and the song leaves you a sweaty, blues-soaked mess when it's all over. My Goodness, indeed.
The album is available now at iTunes
and the band will be playing this Sunday at Sasquatch.
