Villagers sounds like a Chinese knockoff version of M. Night Shamaylan (and let's face it, probably far superior) and "Becoming A Jackal" sounds like a number from Tim Rice and Elton John's
Aida, I assure you NEITHER OF THOSE THINGS IS HAPPENING HERE. In fact, Connor O'Brien and his cloudy pop has been at the top of Irish music interests for some time. He describes his music as "dark imagery or feelings alongside really mundane domestic everyday things". Would you like some pie with your MURDER? Just kidding, it's fun for the whole family!
Villagers are lucky enough to be working with smoking hot label Domino, who've had a slew of breakout successes last year. The list includes the elusive, surprising, odd-rockers The Dirty Projectors and those fancy-footed falsetto peddlers,
Wild Beasts.
Villagers will release their debut album,
Becoming A Jackal on 6/8 in the US. The band will be in the US playing shows, specifically one at Union Hall on 6/17 and one at Joe's Pub on 6/23.-
