Daft Punk Launch Rural Wee Waa Into Orbit

Well, that's one way to launch an album. Daft Punk threw a massive record release bash in the rural town of Wee Waa, Australia (population: 2000) in honor of their latest effort, Random Access Memories. Though they didn't show up themselves, the band had a giant disco dance floor set up as part of the 79th annual Wee Waa Show, and, judging by the various 10-second cell phone videos, fans were rewarded with a laser extravaganza featuring the thumping tunes of RAM. The "Road To Wee Waa" YouTube channel tracked the band's infiltration of the tumbleweed town prior to their festival. Check out the beginnings of Daft fever in Wee Waa:



The masks permeate the town, and it starts to look like that episode of Doctor Who with the Cybermen:
