Like neo-soul electronica? Then you'll definitely like the musical duo that is Steven Marr and Indira Force. Since 2012 these guys have been making beats under the intriguing moniker Doprah
(Dope + Oprah?). These New Zealand natives have been stirring up the club music scene in Auckland for quite some time now, and it's only a matter of time before they start dropping some serious musical bombs. With influences like Radiohead, Cocorosie, and James Blake it's no wonder their music thus far had been a blissed-out, pseudo-psychedelic exploration.
The new single "Love That I Need", off their forthcoming, self-titled EP, is guaranteed to take you on a dynamic aural adventure. Between the childlike female vocals blended with the synth-laden instrumentals, it's nothing you haven't heard before and yet it still manages to deliver a sense of originality and complexity. Musically this track utilizes stylistic electronic influences, while not falling into the predictable instrumental loop that often keeps dance music in a box.
is scheduled to release June 10th via Arch Hill. You can download its first single, "San Pedro" here
