Apparently, the success of the first single off of
Weezer's new self titled album has led
DGC/Interscope Records to push the release date up three weeks, to June 3rd.
The single, "Pork and Beans," embodies the solid guitar driven refrains at the heart of Weezer's very best work, as the song says "with a catchy chorus and beat so they can sing along." In a world where "
Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the charts," its funny how a few
Buddy Holly glasses wearing early 90's indie kids can blow up, and still write fun, quirky songs that reach #1 on the radio. And about food, nonetheless. For all you crazy people who bought the box set of
In Rainbows; could this be a nod to "Bangers and Mash?" Then again, Weezer's self titled has probably been in the works for quite some time.
Whatever, the boys say it best: "[They]'aint got a thing to prove to you." We're still going to buy it. -
