Indie Pop Husband and Wife Mates of State have a new music video for you! "Unless I'm Led" off of the duo's 2011 release Mountaintops has received a slo-mo, one shot treatment. Watch as Mates of State complete an art-house obstacle course of releasing red balloons into the wild, jumping over burning logs and Pollacking a Warhol (you'll see).
"Adhering to the song's theme of struggle and perseverance during life's difficult moments, we wanted a kinetic but visceral video that showed physical motion this motion being the thing that ultimately carries you out of your struggle," Multi-instrumentalist Jason Hammel said in an interview posted on Rolling Stone. "We shot it in double time, so were often running from station to station... Everything you see is depicted as it actually happened." It's a good idea, and it fits the music in a evocative manner. That said, this music video would be a lot different if it was in real time, and "Enter Sandman" was playing. Watch "Unless I'm Led" below.
