Merge Records has been around for quite a long time20 years to be exact. To celebrate the beginning of the record label's third decade of existence, and to commemorate some of the artists that have been a part of Merge Records since the beginning, they have decided to release to the public
SCORE: 20 Years of Merge Records: The Covers, a compilation of songs by Merge bands, covered by some very notable non-Merge bands. Among these bands we have The Shins, The National, The New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene, Bright Eyes and Death Cab For Cutie, to name a few.
This compilation is the first of two compilations that are part of a larger subscription-based box set. They are also releasing only 7,500 copies of the album, so if you are interested you better order yourself a copy before its too late. The entire record is also
streaming on the Merge Website, so head over there for a listen. All proceeds from record sales will go to charities of SCORE curator's choices. -
